Basic Function & Responsibilities:
IT Research Support Solutions is looking for bright, self-motivated and curious
individuals to help advance research at Missouri S&T. This fast-paced team enables
S&T researchers, faculty, staff and students to achieve their research goals. As part of
the IT RSS team, you’ll identify needs and implement solutions.

Job Description:
Dependent upon job/team assignment, this position will be responsible for:
• Build, configure and troubleshoot research Linux and Windows workstations
• Troubleshoot software issues, instrument issues and local instrument networking
and device connections
• System preparation on multiple OS platforms
• Provide exemplary customer service
• Occasional pickup and delivery of PCs, displays, and equipment
• Other computer-related support duties, as assigned

Qualifications:
• Basic experience with operating systems
• Substantial organizational and communication skills
Desired Skills:
• Some knowledge of the Windows Operating System internals (system files,
registry, etc.)
• Some knowledge of Linux operating systems internals (system configurations,
etc.)
• Experience with configuration management languages such as Puppet
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Bash, or Python
• Experience using hypervisors (Hyper-V, VMware Workstations, VirtualBox, etc.)
• Interest/knowledge in networking, HPC systems and hardware, system
administration

Schedule:
• 12-20 hours per week during the semester
• 35-40 hours per week during breaks (spring, summer, etc.)
• Standard schedule is between 8am-5pm, but hours are flexible
• Availability over the summer is desired
